IT ALL SOUNDS GREAT, BUT WHAT DOES THIS APP ACTUALLY DO?
Flashpath DMD is like social media exclusively for dental professionals--but it's more professional than social. A digital flashcard mode enables you to simulate an in-office diagnostic experience, and an intuitive interface and newsfeed allows for easy sharing and browsing of conclusively diagnosed pathology cases.
WHAT MAKES THIS APP DIFFERENT THAN OTHER STUDY AIDS I'VE SEEN?
Traditional pathology study aids (even digital ones) are limited to a small, set number of images (think of those four pictures of sarcomas in your textbook. Only four?!). Search engines, on the other hand, provide millions of images, but they are often unverified and sometimes completely irrelevant. Flashpath DMD solves both of these problems. By sharing with our colleagues we give ourselves quick, reliable exposure to more real-world presentations than could be encountered in the normal course of an individual practice. Content is ever updating, and the sky is the limit.
UPLOADING MY OWN IMAGES SOUNDS LIKE A LOT OF WORK. IS IT WORTH MY TIME?
Uploading to Flashpath is fast and easy! Snap a HIPAA compliant photo on your phone (or use one already on your camera roll), and simply add with the click of a button. Diagnoses are all pre-loaded in a drop down menu to save time. You have the option to add lots of case details, but you don't have to. Click, click, DONE. And yes, it is worth your time! Sharing our experiences with other doctors has always been a cornerstone of the practice of medicine and what you share today could save a patient's life or a colleague's career tomorrow. (And vice versa!)
WILL USING THE APP ALLOW ME TO SKIP CONVENTIONAL DIAGNOSIS BY BIOPSY?
No, absolutely not. The intention of this app is to improve your ability to recognize pathology in its various presentations, and will more likely result in you sending even more cases out for biopsy and diagnosis by a pathology specialist. Our goal is to help each other become better doctors, and to catch more pathology at earlier stages. We want to help our patients stay happy and healthy. This app is a supplement to your education and continuing education, not a substitute for it.
